Community Resources

We are lucky to live in an area rich with resources for childbearing families. Here is a small sample of some of our favorite local organizations, classes, and services:

Naturopathic Women's Healthcare: We share our office with Dr. Diana Christoff-Quinn, who provides comprehensive naturopathic health care for women.

The Center for the Childbearing Year: Offering holistic childbirth classes, volunteer doulas, directory of local childbirth resources, classes for professionals, and DONA-sponsored doula training.

Friends of Michigan Midwives: Helping to support Michigan's midwives and raise awareness about midwifery-related issues and activism. Subscribe to their list at friendsofmichiganmidwives-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

Michigan Midwives Association: Providing an invaluable resource for building and maintaining the midwifery community in Michigan. Maintains a directory of midwives practicing throughout the state. Organizes regional conferences for fellowship and continuing education.

Birth Network: A national organization with a strong presence in Michigan. They help to promote mother-friendly care and support parents' efforts to gather information and make informed choices about their care. Meetings in Oakland and Macomb Counties, Toledo, and (coming soon) Ann Arbor. National conferences hosted in the Detroit area yearly. Directory of mother-friendly childbirth professionals and services.

Birthwithsol: Waterbirth, childbirth, infant care, women's health and midwifery supplies sold by a midwife based in Western Michigan.
